Then, I had an appointment with my midwife for yesterday. I knew they were going to do a NST (stress test) which measures any contractions and the baby's heartrate. However, I had no idea what they were going to find. Apparently I was having several contractions and/or my uterus was very irritable. A couple times they came in to check on me and asked if I was doing ok. I could feel movement, but thought it was just the baby. Nothing felt painful or uncomfortable. Well, basically the midwife wanted me to get checked out with an OB doctor at Abbott, so there I went. I called Todd at work, and he came down, as well as my mom who works very close by the hospital.
When I got there, they hooked me to a monitor again, got some tests, and I waited. And waited, and waited. Thankfully the tests came back good- One was a FFN (fetal fibronectin). I had this a few weeks ago. It predicts labor in the next 2 weeks. Since this was negative, they weren't too concerned. However, I was still having a lot of contractions- and unaware of them. So, they gave me a shot (Tributerline) to relax everything, and it worked great. Todd had been watching the monitor and relaying everything to me. After the shot, he said, "wow, that really helped." So, I was finally able to go home. My instructions were the same as before- take it easy, rest, and get lots of water.
I'll follow up next week. Hopefully no more trips to the hospital until acutally delivery day- and hopefully that is still several weeks from now.
So, here are a few of the things I keep near by
