I don't have long- Simon is about to eat- which he has been doing better. We gave him a couple bottles yesterday of breast milk. I was leery of doing this so early, but I really wanted to know how much he was getting. That is the control side of me (and the nurse I think!). Well, once he got the hang of it, he did great. I am happy to say that he also seems to be eating better (not as sleepy) when I feed him.
I would also like to say that we are thrilled that we found out tonight that his bilirubin levels are lower, so the doctor said we could stop the lights. We'll get a recheck on Tuesday just to make sure. It is so nice to be able to hold him and not feel guilty that he should be under the lights. Anna was pretty sad when he had to get his blood drawn this afternoon, but when she found out Simon didn't need the lights anymore, it was so cute to hear her say, "I missed you when you were on the lights."
Finally, my mom and dad were here last night, and I think my mom could see that I was needing a little break. So, she spent the night by Simon and his glowing bed. It was nice not to have to worry or stay awake hearing all the little noises. AND, she let me sleep through a feeding, so I got a longer stretch of rest. It was so nice. Thanks Mom!
